It is often stated that the typical female needs 1200 calories per day to maintain her weight  when not exercising. If you adhere to a healthy low fat diet you will likely consume 60% of the 1200 calories from carbohydrate.  This equates to 720 calories per day from carbs, or 180 grams of carbs per day (4 cal/g). One cup of cooked white rice provides 25 grams of carbs so based on this theory the female body would require the equivalent of 7.2 cups of cooked rice per day to maintain current weight. Which would make anyone fat!
